Sangiovese CabernetSauv Merlot Shiraz / Tuscany / Italy
One of the oldest winemaking firms in the world, Antinori first commenced production at Tuscany and Florence circa 1385. The majority of Antinori vineyards are located in Chianti Classico. With the passage of the 1984 DOCG laws, Chianti Classico grapes became so complex and rich, that they needed more ageing than the fresh and fruit driven Santa Cristina could bear, to maintain its character and style. Santa Cristina moved away from the Chianti Classico designation, by including components of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah to the firmness of Sangiovese.

The statuesque super Tuscan cepage of Sangiovese, with smaller components of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc. Tignanello is produced exclusively from a vineyard of the same name, a parcel of some forty seven hectares over limestone soils on a southwestern exposure. It was the first Sangiovese wine to be aged in small oak barrels and the first modern Italian wine to include non traditional varieties such as Cabernet. Pointedly, it was among the first red wines of Chianti Classico to be vinified without the inclusion of white grapes.

Crafted at the Finca Constancia wineworks near Otero in the province of Toledo, a Media crianza pure varietal wine that's well suited to the Australian palate. Gourmet Traveler has distinguished Altozano with a string of rave reviews and a huge 94 point rating in a blind line up of Spanish and Aussie Tempranillos. A silky smooth table red with a taste of chocolate and dark cherries, a touch of spice. Friendly to food and highly approachable. Perfect balance is achieved after a spell of oak barrel, which has served to tame the lascivious fruit.
