Fortunate Land Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Available by the case dozen only
The philosophy that binds the Fortunate Land winemaking team is built around total involvement throughout the entire winemaking process. The vines, sited around Marlborough's mighty Wairau River are grown to a combination of terroirs, ranging from free draining, stony types of soils, to aged alluvial loams containing some clay. After a final selection of the sites for inclusion, the parcels were harvested, the grapes de-juiced and cool fermented under tank using select yeasts to retain delicacy and elegance, enhancing the vital fruit flavours and aromatics that define Marlborough. Post fermentation, the parcels are trialled and assessed before assembly into the final wine
Good vineyards from Marlborough's sunny Wairau plain have contributed parcels of vivacious Sauvignon Blanc to be fashioned into a refreshingly fruit driven, distinctively regional white. A spritely effort with luscious fruit characters and clean flavours, perfect to accompany fresh seafood, tasty hors d'oeuvres and all good faire. "Dressed to impress with its luminescent lychee and lemongrass over a flourish of tropical pineapple, currants and kaffir. Fully delivers on mouthfilling flavours, suitably dry with nettle and mineral on the finish!" -Wineweekly.com.au
Pale straw colour. Bouquet is a mixture of ripe citrus and tropical fruits with soft and intriguing elements of exotic spice and baked apple, lychee and gooseberry. Palate is medium bodied with an excellent mouthfeel, the ripe citrus fruit comes first and is quickly followed by the quenching minerality of the wine followed by the juicy, mouthwatering acidity. Quite comfortable with food, it's one of those whites that's good to guzzle just on it's own. "Marlborough enthusiasts will find much to lke about this. Pineapples and limes, resin and ripe fruit, guava, lychee and pear. A Marlborough Sauvy that's more polished and easier to appreciate than most, it resolves pleasingly pure, dry and lingering!" -Tastesofwines.com
