Lethbridge was originally planted to vine by Swiss immigrants circa 1874. Replanted and redeveloped in 1996, the site is managed to the biodynamic principles of Biological Farmers Australia. Real wine is the passion, wines which are the product of healthy vines and traditional vinification. A mixture of clones, including MV6 and 114, 115 and 777 are grown to a number of unique terroirs on the Lethbridge property. All blocks are picked and handled separately in order to construct a Pinot Noir with penetrative palate and engaging complexity.

Named for the Chapel district of Lenton in Nottingham, Brae is Scottish for a small hill, which is what the Lenton Brae vineyard is situated on. Fortuitously placed within the very epicenter for superior Margaret River Cabernet, the site was planted after advisement from the proprietors of nearby Moss Wood, with which it shares a similar terroir and microclime. The inaugural vintage of Cabernet won Lenton Brae a place in the pantheon of great Margaret River estates when it claimed two trophies, including best of show, at the WA winemakers exhibition.

Margaret River makes famously intense, deeply stylish Shiraz, somewhat more sanguine and evocative than its distant relations from winegrowing regions further afield. The balmy maritime breezes and cooler nights produce a Shiraz wine that conjures up impressions of the prevailing mistral winds of Valley Rhone. Slightly more forward drinking than the estate flagships, Sibling is endowed with layers of radiant olive/plum fruit characters and piquant spice characters, supported by excellent length of the most graceful tannins.

Prelude can lay claim to the most praiseworthy vineyards in Margaret River, for a world class Cabernet Merlot wine which measures up to, or surpasses it's sibling rivals in the Medoc. Margaret River can boast of a rare confluence of topography and terroir which form a mesoclime very like Bordeaux, along with a rare consistency of weather patterns each year, to deliver the quality of wine which Bordeaux can offer only in the finest vintages. An elegantly poised Cabernet Merlot accord with exciting graphite mineral complexity at the finish.

Distinguished Langtons Classification. One of Leeuwin Estate's crowning achievements, a statuesque, opulent yet graceful rendering of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. The cépage may vary somewhat from vintage to vintage, as inclusions of Petit Verdot or Malbec may serve to flesh out the generously proportioned Bordeaux styling. The highly accomplished team mobilize the fundamentals of vineyard and vinification to assemble a fully endowed Cabernet wine that's so much greater than the sum of parts.

Sydney Hamilton was a highly accomplished oenologist who established the Leconfield brand in 1974, at the ripe old age of 76. His commemorative label is crafted from the top cut of Cabernet Sauvignon, hand picked off the original estate plantings, vinified in Sydney's favourite old fermenter, finished in a luxurious selection of completely new Dargaud Jaeglé French oak hogsheads and aged an extravagant twenty nine months. Dominated by opaque winegum, black cherries and cassis, draped in a robe of satin tannins, Coonawarra Cabernet of the highest order.

Leconfield occupies some of the Coonawarra's richest Terra rosa over limestone soils, a composition that's idyllic for vintages of superior new world Shiraz. The aim is to craft a wine endowed with great palate depth and weight of fruit whilst retaining elegance, where oak complexes and enhances the fruit but is not allowed to dominate. Several components of Leconfield complete their fermentations in barrel while the balance is treated to extra time on skins before pressing and filling into the highest quality French oak for an extravagant, extended maturation.

Leconfield take aim each year to construct a fragrant, mouth filling Coonawarra Merlot, from grapes infused by the rich terra rosa soils, layered with great depth of flavour and framed by sound structure, in which oak plays an important but not prominent role. Significantly, the vines are in their third decade of productivity and yield a distinctly elegant Merlot wine of great sophistication and exquisite balance, suitably swathed in a robe of fine, silky tannins.

Leconfield's regional flagship has remained in splendid form for decades, a stellar performer which achieved immediate prominence and massive critical acclaim from inaugural release. An exacting approach to viticulture is central to the magnificent quality of fruit, uncompromising standards of vinification complete an extraordinary Coonawarra Cabernet. A headily perfumed wine of ripe cassis aromas, framed by luxuriously fragrant oak and underpinned by solid structure, a soupçon of Cabernet Franc contributes edifying floral complexity.

Clare Valley saw one of it's finest vintages ever in 2006. Winemaking legend Simon Osicka declared it to be the best Leasingham Shiraz in a decade, rivalling the stellar 1998 edition.

Leasingham's Schobers and Provis vineyards consistently yields the finest Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Classic Clare is Leasingham's best of vintage, crafted from the pick of harvest, treated to a no expense spared vinification by the award winning Leasingham team at the historic Leasingham wineworks, into a statuesque wine of elegance and state.

Leasingham have remained at the fore of Clare Valley viticulture, making great wine since 1895. They have since established an endowment of the region's most auspicious vineyards. Leasingham claimed the highly prestigious Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for its 1994 Shiraz, the first time a Clare Valley producer won the accolade. Sourced from superior sites, including the distinguished Provis and Schobers properties, Bin 61 speaks profoundly of the elegant spice characters and intense blueberry mint perfumes which are unique to Valley Clare.

Leasingham retain many precious vineyards in Valley Clare, well positioned to make the most definitive regional wines. Bin 56 is steeped in history, an exquisite accord of Cabernet Malbec that exhibits all of the virtues which have established Leasingham as one of the nation's most enduring marques. Bin 56 expresses the suppleness and elegance of the Clare Valley style, a refined yet solidly structured Cabernet wine, displaying excellent varietal lift and a concentration of dulcet fruit characters, held together by refined, elegant tannins.

An engaging Tempranillo wine in impressive new world styling, a fashionable fusion of savouryness, freshness and fruit. Gentle handling is the priority, there are no pumps, gravity is employed throughout the process to move grapes and musts. Florals and leather bouquet, violet, olives and bay. Opaque red berries and black cherry fruit, mulberry and five spice run through the long, soft palate, all framed by a veneer of vanillan cedar oak, supported by a flattering length of pliant tannins, exquisitely balanced by the judicious savouryness of a food friendly cherry tang.

One of the great grapes of D.O.C Rioja, there is much about the torrid terroir and capricious climes of Australian viticulture that's perfectly predisposed for the gracious Graciano. A beautifully perfumed wine with layers of complexity and palate richness, star anise, spiced cherries and cardamom spice, all supported by ripe llquorice tannins and a veneer of judicious mocha oak.

Leabrook were born out of a love for the great Pinot Noir growths of la Bourgogne. Following a proverbial pilgimmage to the illustrious Cote-d'Or, a quarter hectare of rocky soils was secured on the propitious Adelaide Hills, the aim being to construct a new world Pinot Noir of satin textures, solid palate weight and the softest, chamois tannins. Closely planted and lovingly husbanded, the precious vines yield an extraordinary quality of Pinot Noir. A mix of seasoned and new French oak barriques are employed to mature gracefully without dominating the fruit.

Leabrook are all about crafting restricted yields of hand picked Adelaide Hills fruit through a Burgundian approach to winemaking. Vines were originally establsihed to a quarter hectare hobby block of rocky clay soil in Onkaparinga Valley, closely planted in the traditional French way, the inaugural vintages immediately started to show promise. A historic woollen mill in Lobethal was ideally suited as a wineworks. Textural, elegantly aromatic and exquisitely balanced, the limited release wines of Leabrook may not be easy to find but they are worth the challenge.

Pigeoulet is the vineyard delineation where the illustrious Vieux Telegraphe of Chateauneuf-du-Pape maintain their offices and manage the estate cellars. Le Pigeoulet acquired its own unique nomenclature in 1998, when the terroir of Caromb was incorporated into the Cotes du Rhône appellation. A further plot to the south of the village at Châteauneuf-du-Pape, on the east bank of the Rhône, is planted mainly to forty year old Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault vines, and amounts to a third of the source for the complex cépage of Le Pigeoulet.

Crafted from a collation of Marlborough and Nelson River fruit, a full bodied Pinot Noir offering layers of ripe berry characters, reflecting the unique microclimes of exceptional vineyards. The secret to Latitude 41 lies within the extended New Zealand growing seasons and high solar intensity. Low yields and slow ripening conditions yield harvests of richly flavoured Pinot Noir, parcels exhibiting velvety, showroom tannins and vibrant dark cherry flavours. Exquisite length and crisp fruit character, Latitude 41 has the basics of balance, flavour and finesse, completely right.

The Apple Isle is blessed by a confluence of season and clime, not dissimiliar to the great Pinot growing terroirs of La Bourgogne. Chilly nights, morning mists and an extended vintage encourage the vines to yield harvests of tiny berries, brimming with piquant sassafras cherry flavours, cossetted by a patina of refined, elegant tannins. Treated to a course of Burgundian vinification techniques, whole bunches and open ferments, hand plunges and a term of age in French oak, the Pinot Noir of choice to accompany salmon cutlets, cherry glaze and morel.

A collation of fruit grown to blocks of new and old vines on the Barossa Valley floor, some up to 120 years of age, artfully vinified into the timeless style of honest, traditional Aussie Shiraz. Langmeil obtains much of its material from old, pre phylloxera and own rootstock vineyards throughout the region, in order to guarantee the quality and consistency of its wines. Ripe, rich plummy and dark cherry fruit with earthy tones and hints of spice, it displays fine toasty oak tannins in support of a medium to full bodied wine with splendid soft dry finish.

Old Barossa growers still refer to their vineyards as the garden. Langmeil's ageing vines in the hamlets of Tanunda, Lyndoch and Vine Vale are the source of fruit for this topical mix of Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache. A wine of provenance, the traditional cepage of grapes favoured by early Barossa settlers, crafted through old world styling into a truly a luscious wine, lifted by sweet spice and gentle cherry oak oak, balanced by extra fine tannins which linger, long on a fruit filled finish.

The Orphans are ten rows of seriously old vines Shiraz, planted before 1860 by Langmeil founder Christian Auricht. At the ripe old age of a century and a half, Section 36 in the Hundred of Moorooroo was saved from the developer's bulldozer and reunited with the greater Langmeil flock. The orphans were brought back to their new home, vine by vine with rootballs intact, to join the replantings of Auricht's original Vine Gardens adjacent to the Langmeil wineworks on rich alluvial soils along the banks of Para River.

The story of Long Mile dates back to early settlement, after Silesian emigres availed themselves of the kind invitation by George Fife Angas to populate the new colony of South Australia. They founded the hamlet of Langmeil and took to agriculture, establishing vineyards as a priority. Many of these wonderful old sites remain productive, Langmeil are custodians of a 3½ acre block planted in the 1840s. Parcels from mature sites at Lyndoch, Light Pass and Tanunda are assembled into a generously flavoured, engagingly complex, seamless Shiraz of affable old world charm.

Arthur Jackaman was a World War II paratrooper who established a Cabernet vineyard in the 1960s, selling his fruit to the big brands for bottling as port wine. Jackaman chose Langmeil to husband his treasured vines and the property remains productive as one of the Barossa's most stately blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand pruned, hand sorted and picked, the precious parcels of Jackaman's fruit are treated to a traditional vinification, followed by transfer to a luxurious selection of mostly new French oak hogsheads for an extravagant two years maturation.

Excellent Langtons Classification. The Freedom Block was established 1843, planted to vine by Lutheran settlers, Christian Auricht and his kin, early pioneers who were escaping persecution and war, just seven years after South Australia was colonised. They found freedom to work, worship and prosper in the Barossa. The Freedom has not only survived but thrives to this day, it yields an extraordinary Shiraz wine. These thick trunked, dry grown, low yielding, gap toothed old vines on the banks of North Para River, may be the oldest surviving Shiraz in Australia.

Planted to Grenache at a site very near Lyndoch in the 1950s, the Fifth Wave block was rediscovered by Langmeil winemaker Paul Lindner in 1999, he persuaded the proprietors to rejuvenate the property and release their next vintage as a pure Old Vine Garden Grenache. The hand picked parcels are treated to a traditional old world winemaking, gentle de stemming of fruit, open ferments and basket press into seasoned oak, twenty months maturation and a gentle gravity fed bottling without fining or filtration, to preserve the sanctity and virtue of a wonderful old vineyard.

The Adelaide Hills Lane Vineyard was established after an exhaustive search to find a property with the perfect aspects and soil to plant vines. John Edwards acquired his affinity for viticulture and honed his skills alongside the most gifted Adelaide Hills winemakers during a tour of duty at Starvedog Lane. The choicest grapes, hand picked off twenty year old vines, grown to the elite Block 14, are minimally crafted into a beautifully perfumed, elegantly structured and singularly articulate wine, which speaks profoundly of single vineyard Adelaide Hills Shiraz.

Just outside the Barossa village of Bethany, Lutheran settlers built a simple mud and stone dwelling in 1842 to house a local cowherd. Vines were later planted around the homestead and it took on the name Landhaus. The little cottage has since been refurbished and the neglected vines nursed back to health. The limited yields of Landhaus are now a realization of everything Barossa, winemaking tradition and the endowments of nature. An old vines Shiraz of power, texture and immense depth of flavour, stylish, seductive and full of charm.
