Y Series expresses the lively personality and colourful 150 year history of Yalumba's Hill Smith family, Australia's eldest independent winemaking dynasty. A fresh and flavoursome, modern style, from vineyards yielding Chardonnay berries with lifted tropical flavours, truly the fruit of labour, creative thinking and aspirations of Yalumba's talented team. The ultimate style is captured by picking the grapes when flavours are fresh and lively, harvested early to create a crisp, food friendly wine. Cool processing and fermentation are employed to retain the freshness of grapes. Unwooded and unoaked, Y Series is treated to a spell on yeast lees post assembly to build richness and infuse the palate with flavour.
Early picking of fruit and brisk vinification makes for a revitalizing, fruit filled Chardonnay.
Pale straw in colour. Bouquets are filled with nectarine and grapefruit, hints of nougat and cinnamon. Medium bodied, built around fresh fruit and lees richness, the palate offers layers of grapefruit and nougat flavours, a finely textured wine that finishes with crisp acid, leaving a lasting impression of sorbet. Enjoy with haloumi and grilled eggplant.
